Ukraine Independence Day
It is noted pursuant to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (№ 2143-XII, from 20.2 in 1992) as a nation-wide public holiday. It is considered a festive day off (Article 73 of the Labor Code of Ukraine).
History of Ukraine, usually vidrahovuyut since the establishment of the Kiev State in the IX century. After the fall of state formation occurred in the collapse of small principalities. In the XVII century. formed Cossack Hetman State, which lasted until the end of XVIII century. and then, until the XX century. an independent Ukrainian state existed. Left-bank Ukraine was occupied by Muscovy Right Bank - mainly in Poland.
At the beginning of XX century. there has been a new upsurge, the national liberation movement (Ukrainian competition with the Russians, the Poles, the Germans, the competition among themselves ...), which no good is not caused. As a result, regained at Left Bank and Right Bank Russian Bolsheviks - in Poland. Combining two Ukraine took place in 39 th year. But the union was violent. Association mentalities it seems not accompanied. Here and now we easterners and zapadentsiv. But it is emotion. There remains only to put finishing facts from the history of the struggle for independence.
July 16, 1990 adopted a Declaration on State Sovereignty. Official links:

August 24, 1991 the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR proholosla Ukraine's independence, democracy and adopted a "Declaration of Independence of Ukraine" in support of referendum December 1, 1991
The referendum confirmed the desire of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence. This was, at least at that moment. But developments does not relax. What is the year - it becomes interesting. And natsinalno liberation movement, it seems, have not bothered Ukrainian. It is just a favorite national sport.

PROCLAMATION OF UKRAINE'S INDEPENDENCE
Given the grave danger that was looming over the Ukraine in connection with the coup in the Soviet Union August 19, 1991,
- Continuing the thousand-year tradition of state in Ukraine
- Proceeding from the right to self-determination under the UN Charter and other international legal instruments
- Implementing the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic solemnly

The territory of Ukraine is indivisible and inviolable.
From now on the territory of Ukraine are only valid Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
